The Logic Behind The Magic."Separators Operational and Control Philosophy"

The Separators are designed to operate in parallel with a flooded weir. The normal liquid level is maintained above the weir by a level controller. The oil-water interface level is maintained by the interface level controller. The separated gas is used for for gas lift and fuel gas with the balance to the compressors. Oil from the separator is delivered to the Separator oil pumps and combined with the compressed gas. Water is sent to Produced water treatment package.

Control loop description
Level Controller
The controller  maintains a constant oil level on the Separators at the desired set point by modulating the control valves downstream of Oil pumps. The control valves are fail open. The control output signal shall be direct acting and the control valve "OPDIR" is reverse. As the liquid falls below the setpoint, the controller shall close the control valve to increase the liquid level. High and low alarm shall be displayed on HMI.

Flow Controller
The controllers  provide minimum flow control at required set point to protect each Oil pump by opening the control valve. The control valves are fail open. The control output signal shall be reverse acting and the control valve "OPDIR" is reverse. As the liquid falls below the setpoint, the controller shall open the control valve to increase the liquid level. High and low alarm shall be displayed on HMI.

Interface Level Controller
The controller  maintains a constant oil-water interface  level on the Separators at the desired set point by modulating the control valves downstream of Produce Water Hydroclyclones. The control valves are fail closed. The control output signal shall be direct acting and the control valve "OPDIR" is direct. As the liquid falls below the setpoint, the controller shall close the control valve to increase the liquid level. High and low alarm shall be displayed on HMI.
Oil pump shall be inhibited if the valve is in closed position
